In the 21st century, the world community is undergoing significant changes which are reflected in all spheres: not only is the environment changing, but also the population itself. At the moment, one of the main demographic meta-trends is population aging which is expressed in an increase in the share and number of older people in the age structure. Globality and irreversibility of this phenomenon forces the governments of “aging” states to revise their policies taking into account the new demographic realities. One of possible and the most effective solutions is to implement a policy of active longevity, the prevalence and scale of which become the determining factors for maintaining sustainable socio-economic development. The purpose of the work is to use quantitative and qualitative methods to investigate the patterns and features of territorial prevalence of active longevity. The first part of the article presents an analysis of current trends in population aging, a theoretical and methodological justification for the use of individual tools in the study of active longevity. The second part demonstrates the results of a comparative analysis of the world countries by the level of old age “depth” and the prevalence of active longevity by the method of determining the active longevity index. The authors have concluded that it is possible to obtain reliable and relevant information about the extent and prevalence of active longevity only using a combination of several methods. The research proves that the prevalence of population longevity is not always directly related to the wide spread of active longevity. According to the analysis, the developed infrastructure, the provision of comfortable conditions for employment in older ages, and balanced pension system in combination can offset the “old age depth” factor providing a more complete realization of the existing population’s potential in terms of expanding opportunities to increase active longevity prevalence as mass phenomenon
