The article is devoted to one of the most negative consequences of professional activity – specialists’ professional burnout. The materials substantiate the relevance of the issue; the authors consider the professional burnout impact on the success of not only an employee as a person, but also an entire organization, the socio-economic development of the region as a whole. In this regard, the purpose of the research is to study professional burnout as an indicator of the region’s socio-economic development. To achieve it, we have solved a number of tasks. First, the paper analyses the syndrome theoretical aspects. Secondly, the article presents its development concept. Third, the work formulates practical recommendations for the prevention and elimination of the identified symptoms of professional burnout. The authors have used traditional general scientific methods: analysis, synthesis, comparison, generalization. The theoretical review has allowed summarizing and systematizing the material about the professional burnout phenomenon. In such a way, we have considered theoretical and methodological approaches to the term “burnout”, and have identified the key causes of the occurrence and development stages of this process and its characteristic features. The research emphasizes on those specialties whose representatives are at risk. The scientific novelty of the study is the proposed directions of preventive measures of professional burnout which can become a practical guide to action for regional organizations of any economic sector interested in high production indicators. Timely measures will help to control this complex psychophysiological phenomenon accompanied by mental and physical exhaustion of a person, to avoid the syndrome destructive impact on employee’s personality
