Child’s development process is closely related to environmental characteristics. Such social institutions as family, health care and education play an important role in personality formation and development. Fundamental research in the sphere of children’s health protection, upbringing and education pursues the following goals: to study regularities of the growth, development and formation of person’s health from birth to adulthood; to establish new age-specific norms of children’s and adolescents’ development; to determine criteria for the assessment of schoolchildren’s adaptive capabilities to study loads and to the influence of environmental determinants; to develop new technologies for health maintenance based on adaptation forecasting, increasing of dormant body reserves and impact on risk factors. The article presents the results following the studying of medical status of pupils of 5th-11th forms at the Research Educational Center of the Institute of Socio-Economic Development of Territories of RAS within the project supported by RSF “The quality of child population in the context of Russia’s modernization” in 2015. The goal is to reveal and substantiate the impact of children’s health status on the formation of personality traits in adolescents in accordance with the demands of the modern innovation-oriented society. The study is based on statistical and sociological data. The author uses data of the Federal State Statistics Service, the Vologda Oblast Department of Health Care, Medical Information Analysis Center, results of the medical and sociological prospective monitoring “Studying the conditions of healthy generation formation” conducted by the Institute of Socio-Economic Development of Territories of RAS since 1995 in the Vologda Oblast [15]. Within this framework the author emphasizes the importance of children’s health as one of the top-priority factors in the formation of personality traits necessary for successful studying at school. The author provides rationale for practical application of the research results while making decisions at different authority levels: for effective organization of educational process, improvement of parents’ medical activity, preventive control in the formation of child’s personality traits
